Georgi Georgiev: Head of International Technical Services, Bulgaria
“We have a small office in Bulgaria and I’ve been truly impressed by the level of cooperation and teamwork across the Group.”
What I really like about WYG is that it gives people the opportunity to show what they can do, learn new skills and develop.
I started work at WYG in January 2009 as an Associate and was given the opportunity to take part in the WYG Leadership Course. In August 2009 I became Managing Director of the WYG business in my home country, Bulgaria.
We have a small office in Bulgaria and I’ve been truly impressed by the level of cooperation and teamwork across the Group. For example, we decided to go for transport sector opportunities, although we didn’t have any local experience in this area. We had a lot of support from the UK team and managed to win a number of transport sector contracts. These included the Burgas and Plovdiv municipalities’ public transport project management contract, Sofia – Septemvri rail line project management and a number of transport sector projects for Stara Zagora municipality.
This enabled us to develop a transport capability of our own. I consider it one of my biggest achievements that I’ve transformed my team into recognised professional experts in their areas across Bulgaria.
